DVNCN participants take back to the employment or organizational setting a better understanding of nursing informatics and the use of technology in a way that will fit with and contribute to improvements in healthcare. What DVNCN members learn from each other will lead to stronger nurse informaticians, better system implementations, and better results.
The Delaware Valley Nursing Computer Network is a collaborative group of nurses, involved in various informatics roles spanning all types of settings who are committed to sharing best practices and education on the use of information technology in order to advance the role of the nurse in the field of informatics.
The mission of DVNCN is to support and enhance the role of the nurses involved in planning, implementation and integration of information technology to improve health care.
DVNCN shall provide a forum for nurses and others interested in the nursing-related information systems to meet colleagues within the region. The purpose of DVNCN is to promote communication and support the sharing of knowledge through educational programs regarding the planning, implementation and utilization of information systems. In addition, DVNCN members share experiences and information related to the various roles nurses have in informatics positions. This collaboration enhances career growth and opportunity.
Through the synergistic interaction of participants at the meetings and intervening collaboration via the listserv and website, DVNCN provides significant value to its members. In addition to providing education, DVNCN meetings serve as a forum to explore new technology innovations, to help resolve front line challenges related to the implementation of technology, to brainstorm new solutions, to coordinate initiatives and collaboration outside the meetings, and to set direction for work to be carried out in other forum
